Historical Specifics:

This cannon was captured by the 1st Australian Light Horse at Mafrak on 25 September 1918. The cannon is richly engraved in Turkish script. The Turkish serial number for this gun is 14 whilst in the Australian War Memorial trophy gun records it is shown as being serial number 106. This error is understandable as the number 106 is the only marking on the gun not in Turkish.

Based on the German Model 93 field howitzer and built at the Turkish Imperial Arsenal this gun would have been outmoded before it was built. It has no recoil mechanism.
