On This Day Monday 4th September 1939 In the early hours of the morning a 6 inch gun at the Fort Nepean Coast Artillery Battery, Victoria, fires a round across the bows of a freighter after it ignored signals to stop for an inspection whilst attempting to leave Port Phillip. The Ship, SS Woniora (an Australian ship) then stopped (Second World War).
